Just what the Junker ordered.... Junk Jewels

Today I was very pleasantly surprised.... I saw a cast off train case on the ground. However, I was in a mad rush to take my son to school, 3 towns over.... I marked it in my mind to return home the same way so that I could get it before the garbage men... being as though I absolutely ADORE vintage luggage.

One hour later I return to find it still there... Hallelujah! I quickly pulled along side of the prey, put the car in park (but still running) and pounced on it like a leopard on a gazelle. As I lifted it up I noticed the weight... It was heavy. I opened it up with the intentions to dump the contents in the nearby trash can.

When I opened it broken glass fell out.. clearly from the vanity. I sighed and continued.... "what's this broken vanity mirror reflecting?OMGosh... it sparkled!"I looked down to see heaps f Junk Jewelry staring at me like a deer in headlights.... Woo-hoo Jackpot!

I quickly closed the case, surveyed my surrounding and dashed back to my get-away car.... zoom.. It's all mine. I drove back to my snow covered yard and investigated my new finds intensely on the back stairs.... I couldn't wait to get in the house. I saw that it was filled with great finds... mainly broken... but it had that that je ne sais quoi. I want to share with you. I hope you enjoy the show....

F for Vintage Notion Box Turned FUNKY Jewelry Box - JUNKMARKET Style

F is for Funky! (This IS SOLD)

Vintage Notion Box Turned Funky Jewelry Box

Another idea I 'borrowed' from Janis... I LOVE her style. It's so elegant & glamorous... I still have a ways to go... ;)

I didn't know what to do with my cute little notion box until yesterday. I mean it was already cute in it's own little way....

I had already painted it white but got creatively stuck...
Then I saw Janis' Thriftday post and knew exactly what I wanted to do...

This is the after.... I think it's just lovely.

I'm not sure if I can give it up to the consignment boutique yet.... hmm

J is for Junk Angel of Wind Chimes

(A swift breach of etiquette; I skipped a few letters F,G,H,I) LOL Oh well I'll got back at a later time.

Oh Junk Angel of Wind Chimes - JUNKMARKET Style

(Click the image to see full picture)
Oh Junk Angel Of The Wind Chimes tell me what makes you so bright?

My jeweler gave me a challenge.. if passed he'd give me some of the the silver plated items that crosses his precious metal desk that isn't so precious.....

You started out as a vintage gold filligree cover....

who was severed and recolored with silver.

Add on some jewels, velvet ribbon and silverware charms...... and voila There you are.... A sweet cherub superstar.

I used the blue ribbon and jewel (the Angel is holding) because he said it was his favorite color. The challenge was making it manly enough for him to want to use but still pretty. ;)

Did I achieve it?

...With your crystal lines and your silver bells. Oh how you sparkle through the night.

I rejoiced with glee and made this piece for him. I have the rest of the set to play and create with.....

Thanks Janis for the inspirational wind chimes.

E is for Eyeglasses.... Now what to do with them?

I've actually amassed quite a few eye glasses over the years. Yes, many are mine (lol) but others I have rediscovered throughout my travels from one thrift store to another garage sale... down to a rummage sale and back up to freecycle.... Yes my travels have taken me far and wide... but....... It sometimes leaves me at a lost for words and projects.. So what would you do with these eyeglasses?

Being visuals without a vision leaves you in the dark... somebody help me brighten my day... LOL
