Had a spell of TMJ... last week went to bed and took a bit of stress with me.. not good.. woke up with a severe jaw pain that shot right up to my brain. My blood pressure went sky high. I will spare you the gory details. I am just taking it day by day - week by week.

Hey Tomboy, I have TMJ syndrome. What you had was probably stress induced pain caused by gritting your teeth or clenching. It can be part of TMJ Syndrome which has many faces (no pun intended). I rarely have pain, but my jaw got locked up for several months a few years back. Yes, I said months, and It took a lot to get it to open up again. Talk about scary. I sleep with a device every night which keeps my symptoms in check. Hope you are feeling better. Try some heat on it before bedtime to relax your jaw muscles, and maybe some hot tea. Reduce your caffeine in the later part of the day, and try to relax. If you have any muscle relaxers around, you might try taking one or 1/2 at bedtime for a few nights.

Thanks for the tips & info... I've noticed lately that I have been clenching my jaw... I don't want it to happed again... :(
My jaw locked once or twice..but I massaged it back into place...
I need to get to a professional!
